Fractionation palm oil
The palm oil fractioning process involves two main steps: crystallization and filtration.During crystallization, the palm oil’s triglycerides melt at different temperatures, fractioning the oil into liquid and solid components. The character of the crystals produced depends on the temperature, time and agitation used during the process. The fractioned palm oil then passes through a filtration process, dividing the oil into liquid palm olein and solid palm stearin components.
Fractionation Process
As in the palm oil , there is about 50 % saturated fatty acid and 50 % unsaturated fattyacid. As usually , the palm oil is half solid . According to the palm oil different melting point , we will make the palm oil cool ,crystallize , separate , then we can get the low melting point liquid oil and high melting point stearic fatty . The palm oil is half solid form as normal temperature . The special component of palm oil determins a special crystallizing process . Before the palm oil process , it is dessolved to liquid by the steam heating . Before crystallizing , heating the palm oil to 70~75 ℃, which make broke the original crystal . The crystallation and keep crystal will be going in the same tank . There is a stiring device , which can make heat transmit well , make the material uniform mixing . We adopt multi- layer coilers cooling style , and inlet cooling medium in the coilers . The key of getting good crystal is heat transfer area and heat transfer coefficient , stiring speed etc , Which aviods crystal pellet loose , and crystal dissolve , and filtered cake not enough hard , high oil residual in the filtered cake ect . The crystal process be come true by the crystal tank coiler and cooling water in the jacket temprature in the PLC control process . Cooling water temperature is controled by temperature systme basic of temperature sensor , and control valve with a locator , which can directly finish to abserve and make the cool water temperature curve and crystal curve from computer display interface . The crystallized and growing crystal oil is pumped from the crystal tank to filter . For the filter process , we adopt the diaphragm type filter . This filter adds a wiping process after filter .,which make more liquid oil we get , and improve the stearin hardness .and get high alternative production . Before filter , we must make sure the filter is in a automatic pressure maintaining condition . Then we will make the whole fractionation process automatically , through setting pressure , time and flow etc . Features of Palm oil Fractionation Since the liquid has been filtered out, fractionated palm oil has a thicker texture than normal palm oil. A higher percentage of saturated fat accounts for this additional thickness. According to the American Palm Oil Council, fractionated palm stearin contains roughly 60 percent saturated fat and 40 percent unsaturated fat. And it’s this solid fractionated portion of the oil that finds its way into many food products
